Getting a Christmas Tree

On Thanksgiving we talked with Aunt Kathy and the family up in NC and we took pictures of Katherine talking to her. She was singing and she decided to start with her ABS'c and it ended up being a run-on song about Abc's, 123's and Twinkle Twinkle. She is a hoot!!

We went on Friday to get our Christmas tree with my family. We went to the Thompson Tree Farm in Lawrenceville thinking that we would cut down our tree but we love frazier firs and it doesn't get cold enough here in GA for them to grow. We ended up just picking one out at the tree lot they had on their property. We will definitely do it again. Hot cocoa(kids coffee) and wagon rides with Papa were also memories to be treasured.

Evan squishes up his nose and gets so excited about toys, his sister and accomplishing pulling up. Here are some pics of this particular face.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We had a great time with friends and family yesterday. We were completely entertained by Katherine and her little friend Maran all evening. They are only four months apart and were full of energy. Our favorite was when they were striking a pose on the fireplace at my Mom's. HILARIOUS!! We of course have it on video but not camera...Sorry.

Katherine and I were playing dress up and doing hair the other day and I was able to give her her first french braid. Of course I had to document the event. I am having a lot of fun with her doing girly things. Playing house, dressing up, painting toes etc...

Evan is eating soo much food and is very good at letting me know when he doesn't want something. Here are the pics of him squeezing his mouth shut so that we cannot get anything else inside.

Hope you all are having a great weekend. We are going to get our Christmas tree today and enjoy the great weather. It is supposed to be 60 degrees today.

New things every day

My children are amazing me!! Every day it seems like they are doing new things.

Katherine loves to use her imagination and the other day her frog was sat on, stepped on, and fed all day. She has a great memory and tells me when we are going the wrong way if she thinks it looks like we are on the way somewhere other then where I told her we were going. Did you follow? Haha~ She knows quite few of her letters and she can draw a "P". The Alphabet song is sung all day and she wants me to sing louder every time. If you have been around any two year old you know they love to sing but they don't quite know all the words so it is pretty cute when she comes up with the words she thinks they are saying.

Evan is eight months old and into EVERYTHING!! I have found him in many places(on top of the VCR) with many different things in his mouth(leaves being his personal favorite). Pulling up is his greatest achievment so far and he squishes up his nose and laughs every time. He is so pleased with himself. If I am on the floor he always starts crawling toward me breathing heavy, he then opens his mouth and covers me with slobber and laughs. This action is very similar to what his dad does to his big sister!!

We are having a great time!!

Camping at Fort Mountain

Saturday, Oct. 28, we drove with the kids to Fort Mountain, GA to go camping with Larry's side of the family. Larry's mom recently bought the family an RV and this was our first trip. There were 8 of us all together and we had a GREAT time. We definitely had to learn how to dance around each other inside the RV but it was full of laughter and good memories. We went hiking, built a fire, ate leaves(Evan did), made s'mores, saw BEAUTIFUL colors on all of the trees, and enjoyed being with one another. I am so greatful to have the opportunity to go and explore the outdoors. I can see how so many artists get their inspiration. The amazing sights we saw while we were hiking caused even me, the stick figure queen, to want to go and paint. Hope you enjoy the pictures!!

Amicalola Falls

Saturday began early for us as we headed toward Dawsonville. We met our friends, Todd & Amy, near the Mall of GA and were still trying to warm the car as we arrived. Chick-Fil-A coffee and Biscuits hit the spot though and we were on our way. We started the drive with a great map and a thorough discription of the gravel road off of Highway 53 we were looking for. Thank goodness it was somewhat light outside by the time we got there so we knew we were in the right place. After bundling up the best you can to go for a hike we took pictures and were on our way. After about 1/2 a mile we decided we had probably gone the wrong way so back we went to the car to make sure we followed the directions. After deciding what was North and South we found the trail head at the North end of the parking lot and we were on our way. It was beautiful. Most of the hike was in the woods but the beginning was along the Amicalola River and we LOVED it. The sound of the river was calming, the cool air invigorating and the fellowship...priceless. Halfway through the hike the sun was rising through the trees and it was all worth it!! Get up, Get out and enjoy the hidden trails all around. We had a great time and are going on another hike next month.

Monday-Monday

Another Monday rolls around and we have gone to the grocery, folded some laundry and now I am only a few moments away from my nap (that is if the kids cooperate). It is raining outside and getting colder here so I am ready to snuggle in for the rest of the day. Maybe I can get Larry to build a fire when he gets home. One thing I do love about Mondays is that they are very slow and predictable unlike most of our weekends. Weekends just seem to fly by here at our home and this one was especially busy. Friday night we went to a cousin's b-day party and the kids were cute as could bee. Saturday Larry and I went hiking along the Amicalola river with some friends(early), afternoon brought naps and Shopping. YEAH. Sunday we went to two churches watched a terrible Falcons ballgame and went to our church Fall Picnic. All of that while my sister stayed with us because my parents were out of town. See why I need my nap today.

Our Hike

What an awesome time!!
Larry and I went on a five mile hike with a group of friends and stayed the weekend at the Len Foote Hike Inn. It was a great trip and I would advise anyone going for time away to seek God and spend time in the Mtns of N. GA. We walked, prayed and just meditated on the beauty of God's handywork while we were there. We have been so inspired that Saturday we are going up near that area again to spend a day hiking with some friends of ours. Happy trails to all of you!!

Throughout my day

I am sitting here and I am trying to remember why I love being home so much. There are dishes in the sink, a load of laundry to be done and a napper that is talking instead of napping. We have been doing the same thing every day for weeks and I am wondering if my two year old will ever learn how to use the potty.

Thank goodness for the fall weather, it is drawing me outside with it's cool breeze and beautiful colors. It reminds me that there are seasons of life and that my season with my children everyday will not last forever. It shows me how the Fall has to come before the Winter and the Winter before the Spring. I said to Larry the other day, if I never had the Georgia humidity I would never appreciate this cool breeze. All this to say I am now thanking the Lord for this time, this day, this moment of life that is helping me appreciate the other parts of life. I love how snuggly Katherine is when she gets up from a nap and the sweet sounds Evan makes as he is playing around on the floor discovering new things. I love holding hands with my husband as we take walks with the kids at Stone Mountain and most of all I love knowing that I wasn't just thrown on this earth to take up space I am here with a purpose and right now it is to love my liitle ones and give them a solid foundation to live the rest of their life by.

Family Time

We love spending time with each other and our family. Here are a few pics that we have taken over the last few weeks.

Starting Fresh

Good Morning!
We are up and ready to receive His new mercies. This is a new adventure for me(Char). I am exploring the world of blogging and I am hoping to be able to keep up with a lot of you through this website. This is my first post and I am hoping to perfect it as i learn more. Have a day full of grace and the ability to do what needs to be done. I will be drawing on Him to lead my little ones throughout the day.
