First day of Cool

Evan had his first day of school last Tuesday. He was really excited and loved having a bag. I was still pregnant and decided to go through the carpool line instead of walking him in to his class. He looked so big to me as the director came and got him out of the van. He was a little nervous and hands were in the mouth but by the time he got to the door he was fine. It is wonderful to spend one on one time with Katherine when he is gone. We went and did her school and she loves to learn. She is getting really good at spelling her name (it has nine letters)

He is saying "go to cool" in these two photos

Big brother, Big Sister

Fascinated with the umbilical cord
Such a little momma!!
Proud Nana and Papa

Big boy would hold his brother and say "Hey baby...Done" and hand him back to us. He would come back and hold him and do the same thing a couple of times. he then was distracted by all the gadgets in the hospital room and brother faded in the distance. Katherine was right where the baby was the whole time. Except for when she was coming over to me resting her head on my leg or arm and telling me she loves me. I am such a happy mom!!

Contractions and a rough night

It is currently- 4:51 AM
My contractions are five minutes apart and lasting about 54 sec on average-thanks to a great program called contraction master.
I am tired!!!!
We ate a great Chicken Pot Pie had mild contractions on and off until about 10PM. Took a bath and tried to go to bed. Ended up sleeping on the lazy boy and the couch.
3:30AM coughed myself awake and felt like I had torn something...
wait...

Ok contraction has past.

Nothing really tore it was just very violent coughing. I have been sick for about a week now and it has turned into a nasty cough.
Started reading blogs and that is when the contractions happened. 4Am started timing and here we are an hour later. Today Lord???????

Enduring

Romans 5

1Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

Now that I am 3 days away from my due date and I NEVER thought I would go this long there have been some crucial times of leaning upon the Lord and His truth for my everyday needs. Just a few things that have gotten me through:

Friday- exhausted from a night full of contractions, aches, a sore throat and a desire to walk in and tell the Dr. induce me!!!!!!!!!! Larry and I both felt like we were to wait on the induction. I am healthy, in shape and their is nothing wrong with the baby. Not to mention that the Lord has been speaking to my heart about how much control I take in my life and I need to learn to depend in HIM. I am a very strong willed, do it myself kinda girl. SO this being said, I am driving with both kids in the van and we are all being very quiet. Must be God because I have a 4 and a 2 year old. I decide to just turn on the radio for a sec and see if any music lifts my spirits.
And why I am I surprised that the song is speaking right to me. this was the chorus "Hold fast, Help is on the way, Hold fast, He comes to save the day" it is a song by Mercy Me and I just started crying. I turned off the music and began to just pour out my heart to the Lord about how I couldn't make the decision I believed I was to make(no induction) and if it was going to be His timing I was going to need Him to save me.
I got to the Dr. Mom has the kids by now and I walk into the office still red faced and tired. The nurse and I get to talking and I was able to tell her about the way the song touched my heart. She of course lit up like a Christmas tree and was telling me how God has spoken to her like that before too!

After being told by the Dr. no change see you next week and not feeling very saved of helped at all I spent the rest of the day farming out my kids and being by myself. Larry took me to House church to get prayed for and on the way this song came on the radio
"Praise You In This Storm" by Casting Crowns

I was sure by now That You would have reached down And wiped our tears away Stepped in and saved the day But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining As the thunder rolls I barely hear Your whisper through the rain "I'm with you" And as Your mercy falls I raise my hands and praise the God who gives And takes away I'll praise You in this storm And I will lift my hands For You are who You are No matter where I am Every tear I've cried You hold in Your hand You never left my side And though my heart is torn I will praise You in this storm I remember when I stumbled in the wind You heard my cry You raised me up again My strength is almost gone How can I carry on If I can't find You As the thunder rolls I barely hear You whisper through the rain "I'm with you" And as Your mercy falls I raise my hands and praise the God who gives And takes away I lift my eyes unto the hills Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord The Maker of Heaven and Earth

No, I have not experienced loss unbearable but I am going through a storm and Lord knows that my family and especially my husband has suffered with me through this LONG pregnancy and an injury halfway through. I again cried out to the Lord and asked Him to be my help when I couldn't stand any longer in my own strength. I was so encouraged by the Body of Christ on Friday night. It truly helped me release some of the pain and pressure over to the Lord and my friends who were so kind. The scripture above was the focus for the evening and it hit the spot.

Larry has been home for the last three days because of Labor day and it couldn't have been better timing. I took naps, changed only a few diapers and he took care of all the meals and clean up. YES! THAT IS MY MAN, MR. LARRY VICK. Sunday I was reading

and just opened it up to read, It is set up like a devotional, and it was all about how Jesus did not respond to the URGENT need but always kept the Ultimate Goal as His first priority. WHOAH!! Is that what this little miss needed to hear or what. I am laying in bed begging God to let it be time because I am done and I need to have this baby soon before...before what??? What is so pressing that I need to be talking to God in this way. This way of "If you don't I am gonna..."
and to my knees(in my heart of course) I crumble and cry out to Him and say I am sorry for treating him like some voodoo god that I would walk away from if he didn't work it for me right then.

LORD! I will never walk away from you. You have been too good, so faithful and a treasure
worth any pain I might have to endure. I am blessed among the people because I am loved by you. You are my strength in this time and I will Hold Fast to see you come and save the day. I will continue to serve you until the day I die and worship you when I am at your feet in heaven. You alone are my Hope and when I see you I find strength to face the day, in your presence alone, all my fears are washed away!!

No baby

We are at home and it has been a long day. I went to the Dr this morning after a LONG night and there is no progress. I have cried alot today. It will probably help me to have a good night of sleep. Larry will be home for the next three days and it will be wonderful. Evan hung out with Nana and Papa all day and Katherine went to spend the night and day with a friend. Keep the prayers coming and we will see what tomorrow brings.

Is this the beginning of labor??

Today has definitely accomplished something in bringing me closer to the birth of my little boy.

Contractions on and off, some leakage, #2 out the wazoo and anytime I mean anytime I walk I have consistent contractions. The problem is when I stop, I still have tightness of stomach but the contractions go away. FRUSTRATING. We have walked most the evening except when I was eating Eggplant Parmesan. You know what else is going to happen but I don't have to be specific.

My 39 week check-up is tomorrow morning and my Dr. is on call for the Holiday weekend. As my dad has been saying "COME Baby, COME"

No green thumb

As you know we planted some herbs and veggies a few months ago. Unlike my amazing friend Becca who ended up with a great crop(while being out of town, quite a bit) we only got this...

It wasn't as successful as I would have liked it to be but in my little girls mind the tomato was what we were working toward and bringing in cilantro for salads was thrilling. Evan was a little disappointed to not have a tomato that was red. He of course forgets as soon as Daddy brings out the ball and bat.

Still no baby-

38 Weeks

The wee one inside of me doesn't feel so small. My belly is straight out this pregnancy and I feel stretched to the limit. My skin hurts if I wear rough fabric. I take a shower every night and it has really helped me sleep. It is not deep uninterrupted sleep but it is good and I don't have the effects of the Ambien the next day. In the long run I am glad I am not taking the medicine. Evenings are the worst time because I can't just sit in the couch next to Larry and be comfortable. I am constantly adjusting to a new position. Sitting on the exercise ball is the best. I am not craving anything anymore just want to have the baby. I eat to have strength to do what I need to to but not so much to make me feel better anymore. Holding a baby will be what causes my heart to be full at this stage.
Dr. visits are usually uneventful and he teases me every week. When I leave he always sais "See you next week" Either way he will see me, if I have a baby or if I come in for a checkup. Tricky!! He is great though. I am confident in his experience and care for all of his patients and the nurses at the hospital always talk about how wonderful he is. Friday was me 38 week appointment and Larry came to watch the kids. He was so helpful, this visit ended up being a full exam visit and the kids were with him running the breezeway and seeing the new babies in the nursery. The results of the visit were very encouraging and currently my cervix is soft, head down, and 1 1/2 cm dilated. At this stage with Evan I was about the same and had him three days later! We are close people-YAY! He wanted to talk about induction but reserved himself because of the complications with results from a test that I took two weeks ago. That was a blessing because if he would have offered I am pretty sure the temptation would have been strong to accept the offer. The planner in me would love to know exactly when I am going to have a baby.
Well, from this extremely large, pregnant, tired, ready, young woman to all of you siestas out there. I hope my next post tells you I am in labor.

These are just the first few. Larry is going to help me pick out which ones I can post of me in the robe that my mom let me use. All of the pictures were great and I can't wait to frame sets of the ones with me and the kids.

Baby Shower #2

My Bible Study ladies treated me to a night of dessert and gifts. They all were so generous and I walked away, as Larry would say, with a loot. Some of my exercise friends were able to come as well and one of them brought delicious lemon bars!!

Gina was our host and she gave me this great diaper bag full of diapers and wet ones.Stacy brought homemade banana ice cream!

Miss Jessie from the church down the street gave us a gift and even put goodies in there for Evan and Katherine. She has been taking care of Evan since he was 5 1/2 weeks old during my exercise class.

I love demdaco! My Aunt, Mom and sisters found this adorable little boy figurine and I LOVE it.
Nichole gave us the sweater vest outfit, too bad I can't get his Daddy to wear them.
My mom-lighting is bad-sorry mom, you looked great!
Nichole
Aunt Carol- she brought scrumptious creme brulee dip with Graham crackers
Marvel- dear scrapbooking friend!

Bathtime should be much easier now with this stool from my friend- Amy

Thank you so much ladies for a great time. I hope you enjoyed yourselves, because I had a great time.

Baby Shower #1

My friends Amy and Natalie had a wonderful Shower for me last Monday. We had my favorite dessert and watched a hilarious comedian-Anita Renfroe. What a great change to your regular prim and proper shower. They had to stop the show three times for me to go to the potty. I am telling you it was FUNNY! Needless to say that the baby dropped by my Dr.'s visit Thursday and the Dr. said all we need to do now is dilate!!! YAY

Andes candy brownies with Martha Stewart lemon cookies-I am proud to say I didn't have one strawberry-hehe
My mom handmade burp cloths for me with three different patterns
My cousin found the blanket I really wanted-It has a puppy plane on it and sais "Little Pilot" just like Evan's room.
I am a scrapbooker and I have finished Evan's book up to a year. My friend Natalie gave me the best momma scrapbooker gift, a little scrapbook brag book all ready for pictures. It has ribbons, and tags, and buttons and it is so cute.

We also received almost half of the money we need for our NEW double stroller. I love to exercise and the other strollers wheels literally came off I used it so much. Thank you ladies for a great night.
